Before going to syllabus of CDS OTA , we need to first understand the Exam pattern For Admission to Officers’ Training Academy via CDA conducted by UPSC . CDS Officers training academy (OTA) exam consist of two part first is written exam and those whose who qualify the written exam are call for SSB interview round for final selection . For CDS OTA written exam the paper will be conducted of 200 marks which consist of two section general knowledge and English only . The math section is not a part for CDS OTA .
Recently CDS has allowed female to give CDS OTA exam only as per their rule of eligibility of female for CDS . Female cannot give other CDS exams for IMA , INA & AFA . CDS OTA exam is objective based in which total 120 questions are asked from each section and 1 marks is awarded for each correct answer where as 0.33 marks is deducted for each wrong answer as negative marking .

CDS SSB interview syllabus :
After qualifying the written exam of CDS OTA , qualified students are called for SSB interview round which is spread over a period of 5 days. SSB interview is consist of two stages and only candidates who qualify the stage-1 of SSB interview are eligible for Stage-2 and rest not qualified student are send back home . The details of stages of SSB interview are given below :

|Picture Perception and Description Test Picture is flashed for 30 seconds. The candidates have to broadly note down seven basic parameters viz number of characters, age, gender, mood, action relating to past, present and future for each character in one minute. Time for story writing is four minutes.||Group Tests which includes Group Discussion , Group planning exercise ,Progressive group task , Group obstacle race , Half group task and Lecturette|
|Discussion of the picture – 30 Minutes In this phase batch is divided into different groups. Strength of group is around 15 candidates. Each candidate narrates his individual written story verbatim. Subsequently, in Part-II all the candidates have to discuss amongst themselves and achieve a common consensus about the characters and theme of the story.||Group Tasks which includes Individual Obstacles , Command Task . Final Group Task .|
|After all candidates have undergone stage one. The results for stage one testing are declared. Recommended candidates are retained for stage-II testing and those not recommended are dispatched back.||At last the personal interview round is taken .|
