AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) is an entrance test for aspirants willing to join Indian Air Force as Commissioned Officer in Flying, Ground Duty (Technical) and Ground Duty (Non-Technical). The test is conducted twice a year across the country by the Indian Air Force .

But before going to eligibility criteria the post offered to male and female by cdac afcat ,PC for Men Candidates joining as PC officers would continue to serve till the age of superannuation as per their branch and rank. SSC for Male and female : The engagement period for Flying Branch SSC officers is fourteen years from the date of Commissioning (Non extendable). The initial tenure for SSC officers in Ground Duty (Tech and Non-Tech) branches would be for a period of ten years. An extension of four years may be granted subject to service requirements, availability of vacancies, willingness, suitability and merit.

The AFCAT age limit for male and female is given below :

AGE Limit for Flying Branch through AFCAT/ NCC Entry :

  • Either MALE or FEMALE Candidates must be 20 to 24 years.
  • Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years.

Age limit for Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch :

Male or female Candidates must be 20 to 26 years.

Document accepted regarding age limit :

The date of birth accepted by the IAF is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognised by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or in an extract from a Register of Matriculates maintained by a University, the extract must be certified by the proper authority of the University or in the Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination certificate. No other document related to age like horoscopes, affidavits, birth extracts from Municipal Corporation, service records and likewise will be accepted.

AFCAT Marital status criteria :

Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of course. Widows/ Widowers and divorcees (with or without encumbrances) below 25 years of age are also not eligible. A candidate who marries subsequent to the date of his application though successful at SSB or medical will not be eligible for training. A candidate who marries during the period of training shall be discharged and will be liable to refund all expenditure incurred on him by the Government. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply but during training period they will neither be provided married accommodation nor can they live
out with family.

AFCAT education qualification for male and females regarding different branch of afcat is given below :

Education qualification for AFCAT Flying duty :

  • Candidates must have scored a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level.
  • Also completed Graduation with a minimum of three years degree course in any discipline from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or Cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with aminimumof 60% marks or equivalent.

Education qualification for AFCAT FOR GROUND DUTY (TECHNICAL) :

AFCAT ground duty technical branch required education qualification as follow :

a) Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)} :
  • A minimum of 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level
  • A minimum of four years degree graduation/ integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering / Technology from recognised University (OR) Cleared Sections A and B exam of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership exam of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-
  1. Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  2. Computer Science and Engineering/Technology

  • A minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from a recognised university (OR) Cleared Sections A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-
    1. Aerospace Engineering
    2. Mechanical Engineering (Repair and Maintenance)
    3. Mechatronics
    4. Mechanical Engineering and Automation
    5. Aeronautical Engineering
    6. Mechanical Engineering

Education qualification for AFCAT FOR GROUND DUTY (NON-TECHNICAL) :

The CDAC AFCAT Education qualification eligibility differs as per the departments, the same are listed below:

  1. Administration and Logistics: Graduate Degree (min. three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  2. Accounts: B.Com Degree (Minimum three years degree course) from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.This is afcat branch for commerce student .
  3. Education: MBA/ MCA or MA/ MSc degree in English/ Physics/ Mathematics/ Chemistry/ Statistics/ International relations/ International Studies/ Defence Studies/ Psychology/ Computer Science/ IT/ Management/ Mass Communication/ Journalism/ Public Relation with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together.
  4. NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch): NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate acquired on or after 01 Jan 17 is mandatory. Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2. Graduates with a minimum of three years degree course in any discipline from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. (OR) BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. OR Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) OR Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks .
  5. Meteorology: Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream/ Mathematics/ Statistics/Geography/Computer Applications/Environmental Science/ Applied Physics/ Oceanography/Meteorology/Agricultural Meteorology/Ecology & Environment / Geophysics/ Environmental Biology with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studied at Graduation Level with a minimum of 55% marks in each).

AFCAT physical eligibility for female & male :

In this section, standardized guidelines for the physical Eligibility Criteria of AFCAT for FEMALE and MALE candidates for commissioning through AFCAT into flying branch and ground duty Technical and Non-Technical branches/NCC Special Entry in the IAF are elaborated.

AFCAT Physical Eligibility for Male :

AFCAT MALE height & weight ( physical) eligibility FOR FLYING BRANCH AND GROUND DUTIES (TECHNICAL AND NON-TECHNICAL)/NCC SPECIAL ENTRY are as follow :

AFCAT height eligibility for male :
  • MALE Minimum height for Flying Branch will be 162.5 cm. Acceptable measurements of leg length, thigh length and sitting height for such aircrew will be as under: –
    (a) Sitting height Minimum – 81.5 cm Maximum – 96.0 cm
    (b) Leg Length Minimum – 99.0 cm Maximum – 120.0 cm
    (c) Thigh Length Maximum – 64.0 cm
  • The MALE minimum height for entry into ground duty branches will be 157.5 cm.
  • NOTE : For Gorkhas and individual belonging to North-Eastern regions of India and hilly regions of Uttarakhand, the minimum acceptable height will be 5 cm less (152.5 cm). In case of candidates from Lakshwadweep the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cm (155.5 cm).
AFCAT weight eligibility for male :

AFCAT Male Candidates (except NDA candidates) Ideal weight relative to age and height which ranges from 46 to 83 kg

AFCAT Physical Eligibility for Female :

FEMALE HEIGHT AND WEIGHT PARAMETERS FOR AIR FORCE COMMON ADMISSION TEST (AFCAT) FOR FLYING BRANCH AND GROUND DUTIES (TECHNICAL AND NON-TECHNICAL)/NCC SPECIAL ENTRY is given below :

AFCAT height eligibility for Female :

The Female minimum height acceptable for various branches are as follows:-
(i) Flying Branch – 162.5 cm
(ii) Other Branches – 152 cm
Note: For other branches only – For candidates belonging to the North East region or hilly regions of Uttarakhand, a lower minimum height of 147 cm will be accepted. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height will be 150 cm.

AFCAT weight eligibility for Female :

AFCAT female Weight eligibility should conform to the standards given for height and age which ranges for 23-67 Kg .
